Our reunion committee met last week for a "wrap-up" of the 45th. Even though I was unable to attend the wrap-up meeting (Colorado being a fairly long haul from California), everyone agreed that for this committee's freshman debut, things went pretty darned well. The best part has been hearing from everyone who came to the reunion how successful they believed the reunion to be and how much fun they had.
A major reason for the reunion's success is due to the lady you see pictured below, Nancy Carhart Pope. Nancy has an amazing eye for detail and she stuck to her wish to try until the last possible moment to locate as many members of our class as possible. And though she had help from other committee members in this, I know we'd all agree that Nancy was the driving force for this part - and many others - of the reunion.
So it saddens me to say that Nancy has decided to step down from the reunion committee. We'll surely miss this hard-working member of our Central family, and she leaves behind awfully big shoes to fill. But she's not going too far and promises to be a guest at the 50th. We wouldn't have it any other way.
So that's the bad news.
The good news is that Nancy's roster of grandchildren is expanding...her son Don and his wife, Amber, are expecting a son next year - a little brother for their 1-year old daughter, Riley. This good news is how Nancy arrived at her decision to step down - so she can spend more time with precious grandchildren, which also include 12-year old Anthony and 7-year old Colton, sons of daughter Amy and son-in-law Slade.
We wish Nancy and her husband Tom the very best, and thank you, Nancy - from all of us. You will be missed!
